How to Perform Reiki Massage

Reiki massage is basically Reiki that certain massage therapists use in their massage practice. Strictly speaking, Reiki and massage are two different things. While Reiki healing is all about aligning oneself with the Universal life energy and flowing that energy through the person (who is being healed), massage is about working on the muscles and releasing stress by physical pressure and technique.

Many traditional massage therapists learn Reiki healing and incorporate this knowledge into their practice. Now while Reiki can be incorporated with virtually any method of healing, it does not automatically make it a branch of Reiki but rather simply an add on. So Reiki Massage can be said to be a creative combination of Reiki and Massage.

The way Reiki is incorporated into traditional massage is this:

Massage techniques already involve some level of energy healing whether or not the massage therapist realizes it. With the added knowledge of powerful Reiki healing, the therapist is now able to use his or her energy more effectively in the massage session. In itself, Reiki healing does not require any touching to be involved but when combined as a Reiki Massage, the touch can be a powerful mode of energy transfer.

Reiki massage therapists say that Reiki Massage helps in not only healing people but also prevent illnesses when used regularly. This unique massage technique first starts from the head and works its way down through the 7 chakras or energy centers of the body. It focuses on combining both physical strength of normal massage and energy healing of the Raiki healing.

Poweful Reiki Symbols

Reiki symbols are special to the reiki practitioner such that it brings with the power that is represented by the symbol. For a long time these powerful Reiki symbols were kept secret and only handed down from the Reiki Master to the Reiki Practitioner in Reiki 2. However, now a days reiki symbols are widely available on the Internet and anyone can view it.

Different tests have shown that the Raiki symbols do not carry any special powers on their own rather it is the Reiki Initiation that gives it its power, they still carry the ancient energy within it that becomes "usable" with the Reiki Initiation.

Reiki symbols work in the same way as sacred mantra or chants. They carry within them the energy of hundreds of years of devotion and focus. Understanding is not necessary for the power to work. Reiki symbols go beyond the preconceived notions of possible and impossible and helps the Reiki Practitioner to bring about the healing and the client to experience the result. The symbols add power to the already initiated practitioner.

When the Reiki Master performs the attunement and shows the symbols to the student (before graduating to the Reiki Practitioner level or Reiki 2 level), the Reiki Symbol is impressed on the students mind and helps him experience (if not so much understand) the inner meaning of the symbols. Similarly, when the Reiki Practitioner draws a symbol, or visualizes on it, it brings about similar results. Since Reiki is all about being one or in alignment with the Universal life force and using that energy to bring about healing, the Reiki Symbols allow the Practitioner to go beyond the logical mind and experience this Oneness.

Three Reiki symbols

As Reiki became popular in the last hundred years or so, many masters have appeared, and introduced their own symbols along with it. In the traditional Japanese Reiki, however, there are three Reiki Symbols that the student receives during the Reiki 2 initiation (attunement).

1. Cho Ku Rei (The Power Symbol) The power symbol is reserved specifically for healing the physical body. A reiki healing session can very well be performed without it but when used it supercharges the energy healing.

2. Sei He Ki (The Mental and Emotional Symbol) The mental/emotional symbol is used for healing and purifying the mind. All diseases have their origins in the subconscious mind. This symbol works on the mental plane to bring about healing. This symbol is used for healing and improving relationship problems with Reiki, to clear a room from negative energy, or if during a Reiki Healing session the client experiences major emotional release this is used to clear it.

3. Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen (The Distance Symbol) This powerful reiki symbol goes across time and space and heal issues from past, future or even other life times. When seen from beyond our limited perspective of the five senses, 3 dimensions of space and 1 of time dissolves away (in fact it dissolves away also in the laboratory of high speed physicist or quantum physicist) and we enter a realm of a-causal, non locality where past-present-future exists simply as the eternal now. Using this symbol allows the Reiki Practitioner to enter that state and bring about healing across time and space.

What Is Reiki Healing?

Reiki is a method of spiritual healing that can be used to for spiritual growth, healing mind and body, manifesting goals, and soul awakening. Reiki is a Japanese word that literally means Spiritual Energy which comes from Rei = spiritual, soul, divine etc and Ki (or qi) = life force.

Dr Mikao Usui founded Reiki in 1922 when he went to Mount Kurama for 21 days for meditation, prayer and fasting. At the end of 21 days of meditation he received a divine revelation which led to the creation of what we know today as Reiki.

It is well known nowadays by most advanced physicists about the existence of what is called in various cultures as prana or qi or simply life force energy and its relationship with health and healing. Our body has energy points and pathways which circulate the life force energy through us. These energy points are also known as chakras. When these path ways through chakras are get blocked we become unhealthy, lethargic or ill. When the pathways are open, healing and health is more easily maintained. Reiki is the energy healing technique that un-blocks these channels of flowing the prana or life force in the body.

Reiki healing releases stress from the body by creating deep relaxation in the person receiving the treatment. The process of this healing can be simply put as being in alignment with universal life force and using that energy to clear the chakras (allowing the kundalini to flow).

Typically a reiki healing treatment feels like a warm energy flowing through your body, creating deep levels of relaxation as it moves through the energy points unblocking all the channels of energy. Reiki healing is not only powerful but it is also gentle, comforting and nurturing. Reiki is not like traditional massage therapy where physical force is used to relax a client. Reiki healing is energy healing which can also be performed at a distance without the physical presence of the client. It is easy to learn and anyone with genuine interest and respect can learn this powerful healing art very quickly and easily.

How To Be A Reiki Master

Reiki
is an ancient method of hands on healing (distance healing as well). Reiki comes from the Japanese word that is loosely translated as "mysterious atmosphere; spiritual power". There are different levels of reiki practitioners that one can attain.

A Reiki student someone who is in the first stage of learning this art of healing. Once a student has acquired the necessary knowledge of Reiki, and have received the attunement from a teacher to heal both themselves and others, they are called a reiki practitioner.

Reiki Master (or teacher) is the highest level of Reiki. Only those who have a profound understanding of Reiki are allowed to use this title. A reiki master is one who has received one of the reiki symbols, and is certified to teach students and attune the students through the 3 levels.

How To Be A Reiki Master?

Reiki has 3 different levels or degrees which are common all over the world.

In the first level, the reiki student is given basic instructions and are taught how to perform healing on both himself and others. I this level 4 attunements are performed by the teacher on the student.

On the second level, the student is taught how to use the 3 special symbols which make distance healing even more powerful. One more attunement is performed by the teacher and the student is able to perform healing from a distance on others. In this level the student graduates to become a practitioner.

In the third and final level, the practitioner becomes a reiki master (or reiki teacher) and learns to use a master level symbol. The new reiki master is now able to not only heal others but teach and graduate his or her own students too.
